Commerce-Driven Digital Transformation to Reach More Customers

Lacks Valley Stores, Ltd. (Lacks), one of the largest furniture retailers in the US has ten outlets in south Texas from Laredo to Brownsville. Lacks Galleria in McAllen is the largest furniture store in South Texas with a staggering 140,000 square feet providing an unparalleled assortment of furniture, appliances, electronics, mattresses, and decorative accessories.

The family-owned furniture store remains involved in community growth and philanthropy. Lacks ranks 70th in the top 100 retail furniture operations in the U.S. according to Furniture Today, the furniture industry’s leading periodical.

The Problem

The typical buying journey of a consumer shopping for furniture has changed throughout Lacks’ many years in business. To stay relevant, Lacks wanted to refresh what felt like an aging brand and provide consumers with an online shopping experience. This required Lacks to facilitate a process of identifying the typical user story of a furniture shopper.

The site consisted of only simple content pages that were loosely tied to the Lacks brand with limited multimedia capability. Through research we found customers could not easily navigate through the site and it would only be viewed on a desktop browser. Adage worked with Lacks to overhaul their digital experience, reach more customers, and stand out among the competition by building their first commerce website.

Adage Align

A team of strategists, designers, and developers completed on-site research consisting of customer interviews, staff surveys, and buyer observations.

Our process called Adage Align is tailored to each client. It arms stakeholders with an increased understanding of the customer experience. Adage then utilized the data to reimagine the online experience for Lacks customers and employees

Commerce

Lacks’ new site was built on the Episerver (now Optimizely) Digital Experience Cloud Ecommerce and hosted on Azure.

Now, Lack’s web managers can easily modify and update products and content. Keeping their website up-to-date, relevant, and appealing to site visitors

Responsive Design

The new site’s design and layout is both on-brand and responsive. Now, mobile visitors can easily search and browse through Lacks’ vast furniture inventory.
